DIY Natural Cheap Face Powder & Foundation

So what is the best way to save money, be healthier and still look great when it comes to foundations and powders?
Well, these are just my suggestions, but ones I've been testing for over three years, and I still recommend them!


For starters here is Bare Essentials Mineral Veil's ingredients.


It is basically cornstarch (witch Balance the oiliness of your face) with Parabens (class of widely used preservatives in cosmetic) and Iron oxides for a bit of color (a group of compounds made up of iron and oxygen linked together by chemical bonds) so we have chemicals, chemicals and cornstarch.









See where I'm going with this?  Refilling a old powder container or buy a fancy empty one to fill up with some natural and super cheap DIY stuff!



1. Get your base.
Start off with Cornstarch or arrowroot powder (1 tsp. for dark skin – 1 Tbs. for light skin)

Natural Ingredients you can use are:
Cornstarch
Arrowroot flour/starch

Baby Powder
Banana Powder
Cacao powder
Ground cinnamon
Ground nutmeg
Ground ginger
Left over powder foundation

2. Add color if desired.

Slowly add in one or a combination of the Banana Powder, Cocoa powder, Cacao powder, Ground cinnamon, Ground nutmeg, Ground ginger or left over powder foundation until you reach your desired tone.  

Play around until it fits your skin tone. The amount you use of each ingredient will greatly depend on your skin complexion. Skip step 2. if you have a medium to light skin and want a translucent powder.

3. Powder turned Foundation Cream.

Use powder from steps 1. and 2. then add three DROPS of ONE of the  liquids start listed below. Mix and then add three more drops of the same or a different liquid listed below.  Keep adding and mixing until dissuader consistency is reached.

Natural Ingredients you can use are:

Coconut oil - get liquid

Jojoba oil

Almond oil

Vitamin E

Lavender Essential oil

Left over liquid foundation

Put into a old or newly purchased compact if your consistancy is thick and creamy or use a old or new bottle if you make it more on the liquid side.

I like mine on the thicker creamy side, I just blend out really well for light coverage and can still use it for extra coverage on bad areas.

So you can use your DIY liquid or cream foundation, then set it with your DIY translucent or color face powder!

It takes me well over a year to get through one little compact I use makeup so sparingly, and this dose not go bad with in that time at all.

Another quick tip, milk of magnesia is a oil and sweat stopping primer that is way cheaper then even drug store primers!
