Naturally Dye or Highlight Your Hair

Motorizing Hair Coloring
1.
Pour 1 1/2 cups water into a pot on the stove and bring the water to a boil.
Add 6 tbsp. (of any or all of the following Dye's or Highlights) to the pot of water and let it steep for 15 to 20 minutes.

Dye's or Highlights
1#
Darken dark brown and black hair with strong coffee, black tea or a tea made from walnut shells, cherry bark or cloves, instant coffee.

2#
Add yellow highlights with tea made from chamomile, ginger or safflower.

3#
Enhance reddish tones with paprika, rose chips or cloves. Make a tea out of the spice, sieve the liquid, allow to cool, and apply to hair.

4#
Create bright highlights in light hair with rhubarb root and water. Simmer for one hour, cool, filter and use as a rinse. For a warmer tone, substitute red wine for the water.

5#
Lighten hair color all around by using, lemons and or honey, preferably raw natural honey.

6#
Cover gray hair by mixing a half cup each dried sage and dried rosemary in two cups of hot water. Apply once a week until you reach the desired shade.

7#
Mix three tablespoons black tea, three tablespoons sage, and a pot of freshly boiled water to darken gray hair.

2 .
Add 1/4 cup of leave-in (or what ever you have) conditioner.
Optional, not recommended if your trying to Highlight. Add 2 tbsp. of ground or used coffee stir until it becomes a paste.
Let it cool completely.
3 .
Message the mixture into your dry hair as you would any "regular" hair dye. Leave it in for half a hour to a hour or as long as you see fit, depending on how dark you want your hair.
4.
Rinse hair completely with water and towel dry. Repeat this process once a week or as you get a feel for your needed replication to maintain your hair color.

Simple Coffee Dye
Use coffee, brewed coffee grounds or a mixture of both.
1.
Put the basin in a sink.
2.
Pour cooled coffee into the basin.
3.
Brush your hair thoroughly.
4.
Dip your head in the basin, and use the cup to thoroughly saturate your hair with the coffee.
5.
Work the coffee through your hair from the roots to the tips using your fingers or the hairbrush.
6.
Use the cup to scoop the coffee out of the basin and pour it through your hair 15 times.
7.
Wring out your hair over the sink.
8.
Allow the rinse to set for 15 minutes. You can clip your hair up to prevent dripping, but do not wrap it in a turban or the towel will absorb the coffee.
9.
Rinse your hair. Dry and style it as usual.

For all these methods, keep in mind;
If you do not see as marked a difference as you hoped for with your Dye's or Highlights, repeat the rinse process for several days in a row. Sometimes natural dyes have a more subtle effect and can take multiple applications to achieve the desired look.
If you are a platinum blond, the effect of a coffee rinse can be instant and dramatic. Test the rinse on a clipping of your hair first.
